Dr. Lee Marcus is the Medical Director of Inner Imaging. He received his M.D. from New York Medical College in 1990 and subsequently completed postdoctoral fellowships at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in the fields of Circulatory Physiology, Heart Failure, and Cardiac Transplantation, as well as at Yale University School of Medicine in Clinical Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Marcus is the Medical Director of Telecardiology for Specialist Direct, Inc. and is the President of Preventive Cardiology of New York, which he founded in 2015. He practices a PROACTIVE and PREVENTIVE approach to the detection and management of cardiovascular disease that can uncover otherwise hidden cardiac risk 10-20 years before symptoms may present. He utilizes cutting edge imaging and physiologic testing modalities, as well as advanced biomarker and genetic testing. Dr. Marcus works closely with each patient to implement patient-specific lifestyle and dietary changes, as well as personalized supplement and medication strategies to achieve their health goals. These strategies are extremely effective at identifying and mitigating risk, and ideally can interrupt "disease in progress" often when the disease process is at its earliest stages.
Mortality
In terms of Mortality, of the 30 modern countries in he world, the United States ranks extremely low, number 27 th which is just above Turkey, a third world country. Yet, we spend twice as much as the average modern country and still we have the lowest life expectancy!
Compared to peer nations we have among the highest number of hospitalizations from preventable causes and the highest rate of avoidable deaths. Why we ask? In the U.S. we practice "Symptoms Based Medicine". We wait for symptoms to occur then our medical system goes into action, often too late, because we then are dealing with full-blown diseases.
For over 20 years Inner Imaging, PC has challenged this approach. We screen otherwise healthy individuals looking for early stage diseases, when they are easy and inexpensive to manage and have the best long-term outcomes.
